Pumpkin Bread

I have been making this pumpkin bread for many years, and it always comes out delicious.  And, the best part is it makes two loaves.  The ingredients are as follows:

2/3 cup shortening (Crisco)
2 2/3 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 can Pumpkin
2/3 cup water
3 1/3 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 Tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 Tsp. cinnamon
1 Tsp. cloves

I try to have everything all measured out so it is easy to put together.  Begin by creaming the shortening and the sugar.  Beat in the eggs, one at a time.  I put the mixer on high for just a minute to get the batter nice and fluffy.

Now add the can of Pumpkin and the water, followed by the dry ingredients.   Divide the batter between two loaf pans and sprinkle the tops with sugar.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 70 minutes.

This is one of those recipes that you can always depend on to come out delicious.
